Myrkviðr

Myrkvior is pronounced mir-vitter and is Old Norse for Dark Forest

This soap came about as a result of a request for a custom soap from the /r/wet_shavers subreddit, and both the scent and the name were the result of popular votes on that subreddit.

The ingredients and essential oils in this soap combine to provide a subtle, warm, earthy, almost spice cakey scent. As I described the scent elsewhere, it’s almost what you might expect if a forest gnome invited you for a holiday dinner – quiet, kind of earthy, with some hints of spice.

Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Palm Kernel Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Water, Aloe Vera Juice, Essential Oils (Labdanum Absolute (in Sunflower Oil), Whisky, Vanilla Extract, Rose Absolute (in Fractionated Coconut Oil), Cedarwood Essential Oil, Geranium Essential Oil, Orange Extract, Organic Black Spruce Essential Oil, Juniper Leaf / Berry Essential Oil), French Red Clay, Activated Charcoal, Sodium Lactate, Allantoin (comfrey plant).

Exhibits many of the qualities I’ve enjoyed with other LA Shaving soaps. I don’t enjoy the scent as much as the others though. Blackfern remains my preferred fall/winter soap.

Myrkviór

Long time LA Soap user but recently ran out and restocked. I had never tried this soap before. I like it a lot. Lathers great and spreads well. Also does not clog my razor as some other brand soaps do. Great shave. Not a heavy fragrance but very pleasant. I will reorder this one in the future. I like most all of the LA Shaving Soaps. Big fan.

Good soap. Don’t like the smell

This is a good shave soap that has a decent lather and gave a smooth shave even when I didn’t pre-soften my beard as usual. However, I don’t like the smell of this soap. It reminds me of old people. The good thing is the smell doesn’t linger after the shave.

Best shave I've had

Tried lots of different soaps in my life. But 3 stand out. LA, Stop Shoppe and Mickey's. The last two are out of business. I am glad L A is going strong. Of the 3 Myrkvoir is my favorite. It does everytthing right with no short coming. It latter' easy and fills up my brush thick and creamy fast for my double pass. 1/4 inch plus creamy thick on face no problem.. I start mixing wet but thickens fast in container. I leave it sit on brush a minute before putting on wet face. You would think it would use a bowl up fast but no. Blade glides for close shave with no nicks.
