FAQ / Shipping
How much is shipping?
We try to keep it reasonable.
Shipping for U.S. orders (including APO/FPO/DPO for those in the service and the diplomatic corps) is FREE for the time being.
Shipping for Canadian orders is $12 for 1-2 jars of soap or a shaving kit, $22 for a midsized order (up to 4lbs., approx. 3-8 jars of soap) and $42.00 for orders up to 10lbs.
Shipping for most International orders is $17 for 1-2 jars of soap or a shaving kit, $26 for a midsized order (up to 4lbs, approx. 3-8 jars of soap) and $62.00 for orders up to 10lbs.
(If your country is not on our current list of nations being shipped to, or if you have any questions, or are interested in making a larger order for your retail establishment (we offer wholesale pricing), please contact me at john at lashavingsoap.com.)
Do you accept bitcoin?
We do. Please note that while you may pay in bitcoin, any refund of your purchase will be processed in U.S. dollars.
Are all your soaps vegan / animal product free?
Yes. They are made entirely from plant-based products, including plant-based essential oils and extracts.
Do you use fragrance oils in your soaps?
No. While using synthetic scents would be more cost effective, we prefer to use natural essential oils, extracts, and absolutes. We feel the qualities of the scents speak for themselves.
Are your products tested on animals?
All of our products are initially tested on the proprietor and follow up evaluations are performed by volunteers. No non-human animals are involved in the testing at any point.
What does “artisanally saponified” mean? How does this differ from “melt and pour” soaps?
“Artisanally saponified” means that the base oils for our soaps are saponified on site, and that our soaps are made by hand, on-site from the initial ingredients. “Melt and pour” is a term used to describe soaps made from a mass produced soap base, to which scents and other ingredients are added. There are many well regarded melt and pour shaving soaps (and some are beautifully shaped, owing to the ease of molding these soaps), but The Los Angeles Shaving Soap Company prefers to make its soap from scratch using its own formulas.
I am not happy with my purchase!
I'm sorry to hear that. If you'll shoot the details of your displeasure to me in an email (john at lashavingsoap.com), we'll get it sorted pronto.
Is this soapmaking company some sort of Fight Club / Project Mayhem thing?
Come on now; you know the first and second rules.
Your logo looks a lot like that of the Freemasons. Is this some kind of secret plot to take over the world via the manufacture and sale of fine handmade shaving soap and shaving accessories?
Please see the previous answer. (Seriously though, while we respect the Freemasons and their goal of “taking good men and making them better”, we are not affiliated with any fraternity, religious, or political organization. Our sole goal is to help you get a good shave and hopefully build a successful business by doing so.)
Do you offer wholesale rates to retail establishments?
Yes. We are always looking for new stores to carry our shaving soap. Please send me an email (john at lashavingsoap dot com) and I'll provide more details.
Are you hiring?
Not yet. Ideally the business will grow quickly enough that we need to put more Angelenos to work. Stay tuned.
I have another question.
OK, please send me an email at john at lashavingsoap dot com and I'll do my best to answer it.
